Professional Trading Foundations — Risk Management Guide
Professional Trading Foundations — Risk Management Guide
A professional trader does not ask first: how much can I make? The first question is: how much can I safely risk and still be in the game tomorrow?
The biggest gap between retail trading and professional trading is not a secret indicator. It is the operating model. Retail traders often chase direction. Professional traders manage uncertainty. They accept that any single trade can fail, so they build a process that can survive many trades.
Professional trading is a risk-management business, not a prediction contest.
The aim is not to win every trade. The aim is to maintain positive expectancy while protecting capital.
A good process controls position size, stop distance, daily loss, weekly loss, emotional state, and market conditions.
The professional mind values repeatability more than excitement.
Professional principle
Before you enter any position, define the maximum acceptable loss, the invalidation level, the reason for entry, the expected reward, and the condition that tells you not to trade. A trade without an exit plan is not a strategy. It is exposure.
